Five Ways to Prep for Summer at Anu Med Spa in New Jersey

As the temperature gets warmer, it’s hard not to think about spending long summer days in the sunshine. For some people, the excitement of relaxing outside is coupled with anxiety about their body. Let us help you fix that. At Anu Med Spa in New Jersey, we offer the best treatments that will leave you feeling confident no matter where you are this summer:

Skin Tightening

A season change calls for a wardrobe change. It’s time to swap your turtleneck sweaters for your favorite tank tops and sun dress. Feeling a little self-conscious about wrinkles and loose skin on your face and neck? Pelleve is the newest non surgical skin tightening treatment that will leave your face and neck smooth and glowing. Pelleve targets deep layers of the skin without damaging the top layer, producing new collagen and improving firmness.

Body Contouring

Everyone has areas of their body they wish looked better in a bathing suit. truSculpt 3D is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that will leave you feeling more confident both in and out of the ocean. The unique truSculpt 3d applicator is perfect for problem areas like inner thighs, underarms and abdomen. Bring on the bikinis!

Tattoo Removal

Most of us know people who have a tattoo they regret, and some of us have our own. Don’t let the fear of a painful tattoo removal stop you from slipping into your summer clothing and bathing suits. At Anu Med Spa in New Jersey, we use enlighten, a laser tattoo removal system that’s faster and virtually painless compared to other tattoo removal options. enlighten features extremely short and high-power laser pulses that efficiently and quickly break down the ink particles in tattoos.

Permanent Makeup

Think about how annoying it is when you forget to take off makeup before jumping in the pool. It doesn’t take long before you catch a glimpse of your reflection or someone awkwardly signals for you to wipe your face.  Here at Anu, we do a variety of cosmetic tattooing, including eyeliner, lip liner and eyebrows. We also offer lash lifts with tinting– no runny makeup this summer!

Laser Hair Reduction

It’s safe to say that one of the most frustrating parts of summer is keeping up with unwanted body and facial hair. Shaving and waxing can be effective options, but they’re time consuming and expensive. Plus, the hair always seems to grow back way too soon. Save yourself the time and energy with our Cutera truPulse™ Nd:YAG Laser. This laser hair reduction method is FDA-approved as the most effective and safest hair removal tech on the market. It works fantastically with both light and dark skin tones. No need to worry about waiting for your summertime tan to fade!

Five Reasons to Choose truSculpt 3D in New Jersey

Five Reasons to Choose truSculpt 3D in New Jersey

belly-black-and-white-black

Are you struggling to get rid of extra fat in stubborn areas before summertime? Maybe it’s time to consider body contouring: a non invasive fat removal procedure that will leave you toned and swimsuit ready! There are many body contouring treatments out there, but some are costly and have negative side-effects. Here is why we recommend truSculpt 3D in New Jersey this spring!

  1. Price that pays the first time

A truSculpt 3D treatment costs less than Coolsculpting and most competitors. The custom approach allows you to choose what areas you want treated, so you leave knowing you got the most out of your money. Not only is the cost per treatment less expensive, but Coolsculpting requires multiple sessions to receive the fat removal benefits.

  1. 24 percent fat reduction after one visit

After one visit, truSculpt 3D recipients typically see up to a 24 percent fat reduction. Patients start to see results as early as six to eight weeks post-treatment. truSculpt 3D targets, heats and destroys fat cells under the skin resulting in a slimmer, more sculpted you! Some people return for a second time to treat additional areas, but this is completely safe.

  1.  Great for all sizes

truSculpt 3D works for all body shapes and sizes. Other body contouring processes require applicators that may be too large or too small for specific patients. Because truSculpt 3D is done with a hand-held device, you can choose to target any area of the body. It is perfect for stubborn areas, such as inner thighs, abdomens, and underarms!

  1. Body contouring that tightens skin

truSculpt 3D is the only body contour option that has been proven to improve skin tone and laxity. People who choose competitors often find themselves investing in an additional procedure to get rid of loose skin!  truSculpt 3D is also the only FDA-cleared device that can be used on the entire body.

  1. No recovery time needed

Time is on your side with truSculpt 3D. The process usually takes less than half the time of competitors. Even better, no downtime is necessary post-treatment. Coolsculpting often comes with temporary side effects, including achiness, itchiness and swelling. With truSculpt 3D, you can comfortably return to your daily activities as soon as you walk out the door.

5 GREAT PRE-WEDDING TREATMENTS FOR BRIDES

If you’re planning a wedding right now, you’re probably incredibly stressed. There’s so much to worry about – will the dress fit, will the DJ show up, who still hasn’t RSVP’d, etc. – so you probably haven’t given much thought to treating yourself before the big day. However, if you can fit time into your packed schedule, head to your favorite south Jersey spa and treat yourself to one of the following great pre-wedding day treatments:

  1. Lash lift with tint – rather than wearing uncomfortable fake eyelashes, lash lifts give you the same effect. Lash lifts enhance your natural lashes, curling them up and making them appear longer and fuller. You won’t even feel them. For an added bonus, get a lash tint so you won’t have to worry about applying and ruining your mascara on your wedding day!
  2. Microblading – give everyone major eyebrow envy with microblading! A more natural looking alternative to eyebrow pencils, microblading looks at your eyebrows and determines a suitable shape for your face. Then, pigments are semi-permanently tattooed to the skin, creating a very natural eyebrow that is perfect for your face.
  3. truSculpt – don’t worry about whether you’ll get the zipper up on your dress. Zap away fat and sculpt your body with truSculpt. A noninvasive treatment, truSculpt uses radio frequency technology to heat up and destroy fat cells, leaving your stomach, thighs, or under-chin looking tighter and slimmer than ever.
  4. Massage – you probably just spent the past year or more carefully planning every detail of your wedding, which is incredibly stressful. Unwind and feel your best with a massage. At our south Jersey spa, we offer the classic Swedish and deep tissue massages, but you can also treat yourself to the deluxe massage. That massage blends different techniques to create the perfect treatment for you.
  5. Pomegranate peel and dermaplaning – create the perfect base for your makeup with our pomegranate peel and dermaplaning! The pomegranate peel uses antioxidants to reduce the appearance of redness in your skin. Then, the dermaplaning scrapes away all the dead skin cells and fine hairs from your face, leaving your skin velvety smooth and glowing.

Whether you get one of these treatments or all five, you won’t regret it. You’ll look absolutely stunning and be relaxed and ready to go for your wedding day. Want to make an appointment? Top 5 Holiday Spa Treatments that Make Great Gifts

Top 5 Holiday Spa Treatments that Make Great Gifts

5 spa treatments that make great gifts

There are very few people who are fluent in the New Jersey spa services available, which is why we aren’t surprised spa treatments go overlooked as gift to give to someone during the holidays. However, there are very few things that are better than a relaxing day. It’s a getaway without going far – giving the person a break from the chaos of everyday life. If you aren’t familiar with the different services offered at a medical spa, here are the five spa treatments we think make great holiday gifts:

  1. Microblading – this is the most popular treatment we offer. A form of permanent makeup, microblading uses the existing eyebrows to recreate or rebuild a new eyebrow shape. We determine what shape will best highlight a person’s facial structure, then apply permanent makeup to give her or him fuller, darker eyebrows that last up to a year.
Special Price: $399 for initial appointment, $275 for annual follow up
  2. Microneedling with vitamin C infusion – not to be confused with microblading, microneedling uses several tiny surgical needles to penetrate deep into the skin. The treatment boosts the skin’s collagen production to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and sun damage. The vitamin C infusion brightens and evens the skin to create healthier, radiant skin.
    Special Price: $299
  3. Peppermint aromatherapy massage with hot stones – a perfect way to relax and unwind, this massage melts away tension and fatigue. The peppermint scent is perfect for easing sore muscles, and the hot stones relieve muscle tension and make it easier to relax. When it comes to New Jersey spa services, you won’t find a better deal than this.
    Special Price: $110
  4. Hydration facial with collagen mask – moisturized skin is very important. That’s why we created the hydration facial. We first exfoliate away the dead skin cells. Then, the facial is applied to add moisture back into the skin. The collagen mask is applied to plump the skin, leaving the skin refreshed and moisturized.
    Special Price: $110
  5. PICO Genesis – created to even out discoloration and pigmentation concerns, PICO Genesis uses a pulse laser to break up pigment particles without causing damage to the surrounding area. Brighter, more even skin is noticeable in just two treatments and no downtime.
    Special Price: $300 per session

Give that special someone the gift of a relaxing day and healthier skin. We will pamper her or him to make sure they truly know how much you care. Microneedling or Laser Genesis: Which is Right for You?

Microneedling or Laser Genesis: Which is Right for You?

microneedling vs laser genesis

Our skin changes as we age. It is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you have to give in to fine lines, wrinkles, and other skin imperfections. Women and men are discovering new ways to get their youthful shine back with a new moisturizer, healthy habits, or heading over to the spa for a skin care treatment. Moisturizing and making healthy choices are everyday habits that are simple enough to complete, but finding the right treatment for you at a medical spa requires a little more thought. Two effective anti-aging treatments are offered at ANU Medical Spa in New Jersey: microneedling and laser genesis. These treatments go deeper than any new moisturizer or health craze. They are similar in the benefits they provide, but their approaches are very different. So which is right for you?

Microneedling vs. Laser Genesis

Benefits of both treatments

  • Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces pore size
  • Improves scarring
  • Improves sagging skin
  • Reduces discoloration and pigment issues
  • Boosts collagen production for firmer skin

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive treatment that uses an FDA-approved electronic pen device, called Dermapen®. It uses multiple fine needles to pierce and needle the skin, which causes collagen remodeling and enhances skin rejuvenation. Different from an exfoliating treatment, microneedling penetrates the lower layers of the skin to kickstart the body’s wound healing response to begin producing new collagen.

Compared to laser genesis, microneedling is slightly more intense due to the mechanical nature of the treatment. The treatment only takes about 30 minutes, and there is virtually no downtime. Additionally, there are less potential side effects of microneedling, and it is safe to use on all skin types. After a few treatments, the results can last for months if taken care of properly.

Laser genesis

Laser genesis is a comfortable, non-invasive treatment that gradually stimulates new skin growth and collagen production by using laser technology. Laser genesis targets the upper dermis layer of your skin. Heat is used to boost collagen regrowth with no downtime and minimal discomfort. In fact, the laser genesis procedure has been described as calming and therapeutic. Due to its non-invasive nature, laser genesis is performed without the use of a topical anesthetic.

Laser genesis treatments tend to be more selective. By design, lasers use light as energy. This allows lasers to have a specific target to treat in the skin without damaging surrounding tissue. Similar to microneedling, laser genesis requires a few rounds of treatment to see desired results. However, laser treatment results tend to be longer lasting (up to 12 months).

With both treatments, there are things you can do to ensure the longest lasting results:

  • Use sunblock year-round
  • Limit smoking and drinking
  • Eat healthy and exercise regularly
  • Come back for follow-up appointments
  • Follow a recommended skin care routine

Deciding what’s right for you

If you’re looking to proactively treat your skin, microneedling is a quick and low-risk way to see the results you want. If you have a more specific skin issue to address, a laser genesis treatment might be better for you.

Want to try out microneedling? This month at ANU Medical Spa in New Jersey, microneedling is just $199, normally $350. For an extra fee, you could add on a vitamin C infusion for even healthier skin. See the monthly special here.

How Botox Works

How Botox Works

permanent makeup

Botox is one of the most misunderstood beauty treatments on the market. We’ve been offering Botox in South Jersey for many years, and most new clients are afraid their facial expressions will look stunted, so they approach the procedure with much hesitation. That’s why we always explain the science behind Botox. We want people to understand how it works, so they understand all the tremendous benefits it offers.

Botox is injected beneath the skin’s surface to paralyze the muscle activity that caused the wrinkles in the first place. Maybe that’s why people believe their faces will look stunned and will no longer allow them to show facial expressions. Either way, that’s simply not true. In more scientific terms, Botox binds to acetylcholine receptors to prevent them from sending signals to the muscles. Acetylcholine is chemical that is released when you make facial expressions, such as moving your eyebrows, squinting, or laughing. By blocking the signals, the facial movements are less pronounced to prevent wrinkles, but still occur.

In fact, when you receive a Botox injection, the acetylcholine still tells your muscles to contract, which allows you to still make the same facial expressions you usually do. The only difference is it doesn’t bind itself to the muscle, so there’s a reduction of the muscle activity. This reduction in activity is what reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Now, don’t get upset if you leave the medical spa without seeing immediate results. The Botox injection takes roughly 48 hours to start binding to the acetylcholine receptors. Once the binding beings, you’ll start to see the results you were hoping for in a week to a week and a half. Candidates who have moderate to severe wrinkles that appear when they make facial expressions will see the most drastic results, but those with ever-present wrinkles will also see results.

If you’re looking for a medical spa to receive Botox in South Jersey, ANU Medical Spa is currently offering a special! Returning clients can save three dollars per unit and pay only $12 each. New customers pay only $11 a unit. So what are you waiting for? Take advantage of this great deal before it’s gone! Book an appointment here.

What to Expect During your Lash Lifts Appointment

What to Expect During your Lash Lifts Appointment

lash lifts in new jersey

If you haven’t heard about lash lifts, you’re missing out! It is the easiest, safest way to get curly, ooh-la-la lashes without needing extensions. Instead, lash lifts work with your natural lashes, so it should be no surprise that after treatment your lashes will look naturally beautiful. Because the eye is a sensitive area, a lot of people are hesitant to try something new. That’s why we gave a step-by-step guide of what to expect when you get lash lifts in New Jersey at our medical spa:

  • Step 1: your aesthetician will gently cleanse both eyelids and under eye areas.
  • Step 2: you will be asked to look up toward your forehead and an eye pad will be placed over the bottom of your eye and bottom lashes
  • Step 3: a small, medium, or large sized silicon pad will be selected for your top lashes based on the length of your natural eyelashes. Sometimes, an adhesive is applied first to stick the back of the silicon pad to your eyelid, so it doesn’t move.
  • Step 4: adhesive is applied to the outward facing part of the silicon pad as well as the tops of your upper set of lashes.
  • Step 5: a tool is used to push all of your lashes up, attaching them to the silicon pad. Your aesthetician may do several passes of this step because it is important that all your lashes are pointed up toward the eyebrows.
  • Step 6: the eyelashes are separated from each other, so they aren’t all clumped together on the silicon pad.
  • Step 7: a perm solution is applied to the lashes while they are attached to the silicon pad. This solution sits for about 10 minutes. During this step, the solution is spread to the very base of your lashes, so it is important not to jerk your head.
  • Step 8: the solution is removed – first by scraping it then by using a q-tip.
  • Step 9: a neutralizer solution is applied to the lashes. This helps remove the perming solution and conditions the lashes. This solution sits for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 10: the solution is removed.
  • Step 11: if you are receiving tint, it is now applied to the lashes, which are still attached to the silicon pad. This sits for about 10 minutes.
  • Step 12: the lashes are lifted off the silicon pad, and the silicon pad is removed from your top eyelid.
  • Step 13: the lashes are wiped down to remove any excess solution off that remains.
  • Step 14: the bottom eye pad is removed from underneath your eye.
  • Step 15: your eye area is very gently cleansed to remove any residue from the treatment.
  • Step 16: a disposable eyelash wand is ran over your lashes to separate and lift them.

After that, your lashes will look better than ever! No more worrying about mascara or lash curlers. You’ll wake up with beautiful, perfect lashes for up to two months. If you’re looking to book lash lifts in New Jersey, you can book an appointment online here or call 856-809-0909. There’s still time left to take advantage of our monthly special – lash lifts with tint for $115 or just lash lifts for $100. Book now before it’s too late.

Everything you Need to Know about Botox

Everything you Need to Know about Botox

botox in south jersey

Even if you aren’t familiar with the common medical spa beauty treatments, such as fillers and microneedling, you are probably familiar with Botox. This treatment was designed to address even the most severe wrinkles and fine lines to smooth out skin and look your best. We’ve offered Botox in South Jersey for many years, which is why we put together the top five things you need to know about Botox.

Botox is still the most popular beauty treatment

Even with new procedures for wrinkles coming on the market, Botox still remains the most popularity beauty treatment in America. In 2017, there were 7.23 million procedures performed, which is two percent higher than the previous year. Many professionals believe Botox will remain popular for many years to come because it is less invasive than surgery but still delivers noticeable results.

It’s call a lunchtime procedure for a reason

Depending on how many areas you are treating, Botox usually takes only 10 to 15 minutes. A fine needle is placed into the muscle to release the Botox directly into the trouble area. No anesthesia is required, but if you are worried about the minor pain associated with needles, you may request a topical cream to numb the injection site.

Yes. Your muscles are paralyzed.

When Botox is injected into the muscle, it blocks the signals going from the nerves to the muscles, which paralyzes its ability to contract. Some people are afraid that means they will no longer be able to make facial expressions, or they will have limited mobility. However, this is not the case! For wrinkles and fine lines, Botox causes the skin in that area to appear softer and more relaxed without reducing movement.

It’s not just for beauty

Because Botox relaxes the muscles, it is often used as a treatment option for many different conditions, including:

  • Chronic migraines
  • Neck and shoulder spasms
  • Excessive sweating
  • Overactive bladders
  • Facial spasms
  • Crossed eyes
  • Post-stroke upper limb spasticity

For some, Botox is the only way to reduce the effects of these conditions, which is why doctors may recommend treatment. There are more than 20 conditions where Botox is an approved method for treatment, and tests for new additions to that list are always ongoing. If you’re looking for Botox in South Jersey, please call us at 856-809-0909 to see if we are able to administer Botox for a condition you may have.

Only get Botox at a reputable place

It may be tempting to shop around for the cheapest price when you’re interested in Botox treatment. However, this procedure must be performed by an experienced professional! The chemical in Botox that makes it effective can do damage if given in too large a dose. That’s why it is mixed with saline prior to treatment. ANU Medical Spa is one of the most qualified places to receive Botox in South Jersey, and we have been treating people for many, many years.

We believe in the powerful effects of Botox and want to make you feel as comfortable as possible before, during, and after treatment. If you’d like to schedule a consultation and take advantage of our special July pricing, please give us a call at 856-809-0909 or book an appointment on our website. If you’d like some more information about Botox, check out this blog on how to prepare before treatment and this one on some frequently asked questions.

Microneedling: The Holy Grail of Skin Care

Microneedling: The Holy Grail of Skin Care

microneedling

There are so many skin care treatments out there it can be difficult to determine the best option for you. However, if you’re trying to reverse any type of damage to your skin and look visibly younger, microneedling is definitely worth the try. Using a pen-like device called a Dermapen, several steel microneedles penetrate your skin. These needles cause microscopic wounds and kickstart the body’s healing response to boost collagen production. As a medical spa who offers microneedling in new jersey, we know a lot of people are hesitant about this procedure. If you’re unsure about microneedling, here are some big things you need to know:

Microneedling penetrates to the deepest layer of skin

One of the things that makes microneedling so successful is how deep it penetrates the skin. The needles on the Dermapen are adjustable and range from .25 to 2.5 millimeters in length. Depending on the severity of damage being treated, the needles will be shortened or lengthened to offer the best possible results. The deeper the penetration, the better the results.

The pain isn’t as bad as you think

If you’re feeling less than overjoyed at the thought of dozens of tiny needles pricking you in the face over and over again for 30 minutes, you’re far from alone. However, we are happy to tell you that many people consider the procedure comfortable. A numbing cream is applied to the face prior to the procedure. Then, the Dermapen is rolled over the face on all damaged areas, and it’s over before you know it. Remember, these are microneedles – not the needles used to get tattoos. They are so small that they pass through skin painlessly.

It reverses many different kinds of damage

Microneedling is such a wonderful procedure because it makes your skin look amazing from many different angles. Because the treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, microneedling noticeably reduces wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and most other types of damage. As if that weren’t enough, it also tightens loose skin. That’s why many people consider microneedling the holy grail of skin care procedures.

Your pores will shrink

Not only will microneedling reverse skin damage, it also makes your pores appear significantly smaller. It may seem counter-intuitive for a procedure that pokes needles into your skin, but those needles stimulate collagen production in your entire face, including the area in and around pores. With an increase in collagen production, those pores get significantly smaller than you’ve ever seen before.

Beauty products will penetrate deeper

Even though your pores will shrink, microneedling causes very tiny holes in your skin. These micro-channels, which are invisible to the human eye, do wonders for helping your skin absorb serums, moisturizers, masks, and creams. Microneedling will actually help you save money because your skincare products will work more quickly and effectively than ever before.

There is a difference between getting it from a professional and at-home kits

Many people think at-home microneedling will save them money while still getting great results. Unfortunately, there’s no evidence that at-home kits make any difference in your skin at all. Microneedling performed by a professional is safer and uses longer needles to penetrate deeper into the skin. The deeper the needles go, the more complex and severe conditions microneedling will treat. The best results you will see with an at-home kit may be an even complexion and glow to your skin, but even that isn’t guaranteed.

All in all, microneedling is a great procedure that has so many benefits for skin. After a consultation with a medical professional, he or she will customize the treatment for your skin type and level of damage. To schedule an appointment for microneedling in New Jersey and get well on your way to have the skin you’ve always dreamed of, fill out a form on our contact page.
