5 Myths About Laser Tattoo Removal

5 Myths About Laser Tattoo Removal

laser tattoo removal

If you’ve made some regrettable tattoo decisions, you’re in luck. Laser tattoo removal is more powerful than ever and will only continue to get better as our technology enhances. We’re not sure what you’ve heard about laser tattoo removal, but we do know there are myths out there that could be keeping you away from it. Let’s debunk those myths now!

Myth: At-home tattoo removal kits work well

When you Google ‘laser tattoo removal,’ some of the first things you might see are tools you can buy and use at home to remove your tattoo. The $50 price tag may be enticing, but let us stop you right there. Laser tattoo removal should be performed by a licensed doctor for safety and accuracy. If you’re looking for laser tattoo removal in New Jersey, the Garden State is the only state that requires licensed physicians to operate a laser. You’ll have peace of mind knowing the person doing your tattoo removal is an experienced professional.

Myth: Laser tattoo removal leaves scars

There is minimal risk of scarring with laser tattoo removal. When you visit a licensed professional for laser tattoo removal, they will know the recommended amount of laser energy to use that will not cause scarring. If there is any scabbing after your laser treatment, it’s important that you do not pick at or rip off your scabs because that may cause scarring.

Myth: Laser tattoo removal is unsafe

Laser tattoo removal is just as safe as getting your tattoo in the first place – maybe even safer depending on where you got your tattoo! The enlighten® laser, used at ANU Medical Spa, is an industry leading platform for tattoo removal. Plus, it’s only operated by our licensed physicians to ensure your safety.

Myth: New tattoos are easier to remove than old tattoos

You might think a new tattoo would be easier to remove because it’s less settled into your skin, but that’s not the case. An old tattoo might take less sessions to remove simply because tattoos tend to fade as they get older.

Myth: It only takes one laser treatment to get rid of a tattoo

If a company is making the promise that they can remove your tattoo in just one treatment, run far, far away. The technology does not yet exist to remove tattoos in one session. Many factors are taken into consideration when planning out your treatments. Things like tattoo placement, age of the tattoo, age of the patient, use of color, type of ink used, and more can all affect how many treatments you’ll need. That’s not to say your tattoo will never be completely removed – it will just take a few sessions!

It’s important to do your research before making a decision about where to get your tattoo removed. At ANU Medical Spa in Voorhees, New Jersey you can be sure you’re getting the best treatment possible using the enlighten® laser performed by Dr. Anu Momi. Getting Rid of Stubborn Fat at a New Jersey Medical Spa

Getting Rid of Stubborn Fat at a New Jersey Medical Spa

new jersey medical spa treatments for stubborn fat

Diet and exercise will help you shed pounds, but you might be left with some stubborn fat and flabby skin. You’ve come this far, so don’t give up! You don’t have to live with loose skin forever and you WON’T have to get surgery to fix it. At ANU Medical Spa in New Jersey, we offer multiple non-invasive treatments for getting rid of your stubborn fat. We’ll help you find the best one for you here!

TruSculpt 3D

TruSculpt by Cutera is an effective procedure for non-invasive fat reduction and body sculpting. truSculpt 3D can be used on multiple parts of the body, including the stomach, thighs, and under the chin. It uses a low frequency and high conductivity radiofrequency technology for deep penetration to treat the subcutaneous fat layer from skin to muscle while maintaining a comfortable surface temperature for patients. The fat cells are slowly destroyed during this process and excreted through the body naturally over several months.

The truSculpt handpiece is applied to the skin and will deliver radiofrequency energy for about four minutes before moving on to the next area, until the entire area is covered. The truSculpt glide technology offers consistent results with on average 24% fat reduction in short treatment time over a large treatment zone.

KYBELLA

KYBELLA is great for patients who are struggling with submental fullness, also known as a double chin. It’s the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness. KYBELLA is a formulation of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown of fat. When injected, KYBELLA destroys the fat cells and renders them unable to store or accumulate fat in the future. Patients typically require around three to four treatments. Once you’ve reached your aesthetic goal, there is no need for further treatment because the fat cells are no longer able to accumulate.

After a KYBELLA treatment, you might have some swelling, numbness, pain, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area.

VelaShape

VelaShape is a nonsurgical body contouring treatment that reduces cellulite and body circumference. Your desired tone and body shape can typically be achieved in just three treatments with no downtime. VelaShape can treat the neck, arms, thighs, buttocks, flank (side of waist), and abdomen. The treatment combines infrared light and bi-polar radio frequency to reduce the appearance of cellulite. These factors, combined with a vacuum, heat fat cells, their surrounding tissue, and the collagen fibers underneath. This heat vacuum activates growth of new and improved collagen and elastin.

VelaShape is not a weight loss treatment. It helps reduce the trouble spots that diet and exercise cannot reach. The ideal candidate for VelaShape is someone with a BMI of less than 30.

If stubborn fat is holding you back, it’s time to do something about it! This month, our New Jersey medical spa is offering KYBELLA and truSculpt for discounted prices on our monthly specials page. See the offers here.

Wrinkle Repair with Pelleve at a New Jersey Medical Spa

Wrinkle Repair with Pelleve at a New Jersey Medical Spa

what you need to know about pelleve

As we get older, wrinkles inevitably become more and more prominent around the eyes, neck, and jowl area. If you could add up the amount of money you’ve spent over the years on anti-wrinkle and anti-aging creams, serums, and lotions, would it be a number you’d be comfortable admitting? No judgement here! So many of our clients are tired of wrinkles and fine lines and want a more long-term solution. The answer we give them is Pelleve at our New Jersey medical spa.

Pelleve is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses radio waves of heat to target the deep layers of the skin without any damage to the top layer. This heat stimulates your skin, causing it to contract and tighten. Following treatment, the skin begins to produce new collagen, which improves skin firmness.

Pelleve can be used on:

  • Smile lines
  • Mouth wrinkles
  • Lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines
  • Loose skin around the eye
  • Crow’s feet

What the Pelleve treatment is like

The Pelleve treatment is virtually painless and has even been described as pleasurable because it feels like a warm facial massage. Pelleve doesn’t require anesthesia or skin cooling. A conductive gel is placed on the area that is getting treated. Then, the Pelleve handpiece is applied to your skin.

The best part is there is little to no recovery time! You’re able to wear makeup and resume your normal activities after your treatment. However, you will be advised to wear SPF 30 after the treatment to prevent photodamage and preserve the results.

How Pelleve is different from other skin treatments

You’ll start to see results after just one treatment of Pelleve at a New Jersey medical spa, but that’s just the beginning. After the treatment is over, it continues to work for weeks and months as new collagen is produced. Over time, your skin will gradually tighten and grow smoother with results for up to six months.

Ready to see your wrinkles disappear? This month ANU Medical Spa in Voorhees, N.J. is offering the Pelleve full face treatment for $200 off! Schedule a Pelleve consultation with one of our experienced aestheticians today

How Many Units of Botox Will I Need?

How Many Units of Botox Will I Need?

how many botox units do you need

If you’re new to Botox, it might be a little intimidating trying to figure out the cost per unit and how many Botox units you’ll need to see results. Botox priced at $10 to $15 per unit is normal, but it’s going to take more than one unit to get rid of your most troublesome fine lines and wrinkles.

In truth, everyone is different, so there’s no right answer for how many units you’ll need until you visit for a consultation with a doctor or esthetician. However, the manufacturers of Botox and the FDA have their own recommendations and averages for the amount of Botox units needed.

How many Botox units do you need?

Botox comes in doses between 50 and 200 units per syringe. So how many units does it take? Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox, recommends four units each in five sites on the forehead, totaling 20 units. Additionally, 20 units have been approved by the FDA for the 11’s – the area between the eyes. Everyone’s forehead is different. Your gender, treatment areas, and the strength of your facial muscles are all factors that will play into how many Botox units you’ll need. In the beginning, your doctor might start out with a lower dosage in each injection site to see how that works for you and then go from there for future appointments.

Average units per area

  • 11’s between your eyes – 20 to 30 units
  • Horizontal lines on the forehead – 6 to 20 units
  • Crows feet around the eyes – 6 to 15 units

Depending on what areas you’re treating and how many units you’ll need, the price of Botox can fluctuate from $200 to $500. In general, Botox is meant to last for about four months. However, your first treatment could wear off a little sooner. After your first follow-up appointment, you should expect to see the results for longer.

We’ll help find the right amount of Botox for you! Visit us for a consultation at our medical spa in Voorhees, New Jersey. This month, you can get Botox for $12 per unit ($11 for new clients). Book now!

Jeuveau is Botox’s Newest Competitor

Jeuveau is Botox’s Newest Competitor

jeuveau vs botox

If you’re looking to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines, Botox’s newest competitor, Jeuveau, might be right for you. Since Botox was FDA approved back in 2002, there have been few other competitors that have entered the market and have had as much success. It’s kind of a big deal that Jeuveau was FDA approved just this year because it’s the first new brand of neurotoxin to come to the U.S. market in almost 10 years. As a medical spa, having more options for our clients is always a good thing.

How is Jeuveau different than Botox?

Jeuveau is a neurotoxin that is structurally similar to Botox. They’re even branding themselves as #NEWTOX. Both Jeuveau and Botox are used to improve the appearance of frown lines and even have identical risks and potential side effects. The biggest and most notable difference between Jeuveau and Botox is the price. Jeaveau runs slightly cheaper than Botox because it is priced at a premium. Unlike Jeuveau, Botox has medical indications, such as treating migraines and hyperhidrosis, and was used for medical purposes before it was approved for cosmetics. Jeuveau is purely cosmetic and is not subject to any insurance coverage or reimbursement, so it tends to run a little cheaper.

Is one better than the other?

We say no. Seeing as Botox and Jeuveau are both made of the same ingredients and serve the same cosmetic purpose, there is no true winner in quality of the treatment. When making the decision between the two, it all comes down to doctor recommendations and patient preference.

Where you can find Jeuveau

This month at ANU, the Jeuveau treatment is a new monthly special at a great price! For just $10 per unit, you can say goodbye to wrinkles. Book an appointment now: http://bit.ly/2ZeoKYZ

Popular Monthly Spa Specials You’ll Love

Popular Monthly Spa Specials You’ll Love

most popular spa specials

Every month at ANU, you can expect to see new specials of our most popular treatments. Maybe you’ve had your eye on a treatment but aren’t sure if it’s right for you. We’ve rounded up the most popular monthly spa specials that our clients love.

Botox

Month after month, Botox continues to be one of the most asked about treatments at our medical spa. At just $12 per unit ($11 for new clients), you could say goodbye to your crow’s feet, wrinkles, and laugh lines. It’s a simple procedure that could be done during your lunch break and could last up to three to six months.

There have been many myths surrounding Botox. No, your face isn’t going to look like an episode of Botched. In fact, for wrinkles and fine lines Botox causes the skin in that area to appear softer and more relaxed without reducing movement.

Laser hair reduction

This spring and summer, laser hair reduction has been a huge hit. For those who are tired of shaving multiple times a week, laser hair reduction has been a lifesaver. This month, you can get a laser hair reduction treatment for 50 percent off! Our laser can remove hair from just about any part of the body such as the face, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line. The end of the summer and early fall is the perfect time to start laser hair reduction treatments, so by next summer, you’ll be officially stubble free!

Microblading

Microblading is one of the biggest trends in beauty right now. Everyone is seeking that perfect brow but might be a little hesitant about permanent makeup. Microblading creates very natural looking brows using small strokes of a microblading pen. Don’t worry. You’re in good hands at ANU. Our estheticians listen to your needs, whether you prefer thicker or thinner brows, lighter or darker, and you’ll be able to get a sense of what your brows will look like before the procedure with an outline. This month microblading is $450!

Microdermabrasion

On Fridays only, we cut the price of microdermabrasion in half! Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive physical “skin polishing,” which decreases age spots, sun damage, acne, hyper-pigmentation, fine lines, stretch marks, and scars. There’s little to no prep or downtime for this procedure. You should be able to return to your daily activities looking fresh and years younger!

TruSculpt 3D

For getting rid of stubborn fat, truSculpt 3D has your back. The truSculpt 3D sculpting procedure is the only treatment of its kind, revolutionizing the modern approach to body sculpting and hip reduction. It provides our clients the best results in the shortest treatment time possible. This month, you can buy one area for $999 and get the second area half off!

These five treatments are by far the most popular among our clients. If you have any questions about any of them, feel free to give us a call or reach out to us through email info@anumedicalspa.com. Be sure to stay updated on our monthly spa specials each month and don’t miss out on this month’s while they’re still around. See the specials here.

TruSculpt vs. CoolSculpting

TruSculpt vs. CoolSculpting

trusculpt versus coolsculpting

Diet and exercise may get you to your ideal body weight, but you could still be left with stubborn fat that doesn’t want to go away. Don’t give up just yet! Bat wings, turkey gobble necks, and love handles can be a thing of the past with body contouring treatments like TruSculpt 3D and CoolSculpting. Both of these treatments have become very popular in recent years, but what’s the difference?

A look at TruSculpt and CoolSculpting

In the past, surgical liposuction was the only way to get rid of fat, but now there are nonsurgical options like TruSculpt and CoolSculpting that work just as well without the risks of surgery. Upon first glance, both treatments are very similar. However, these procedures are using opposite mechanisms to achieve similar results. One uses radiofrequency heat to destroy fat cells and the other uses extreme cold. There are also important differences in who it’s best suited for.

A deeper look at TruSculpt

TruSculpt 3D uses radiofrequency technology to heat fat cells and destroy them through a process called lipolysis. The cells then shrink and the body eliminates them over about three months.

During a TruSculpt treatment, a handheld device is pressed over the treatment area to deliver targeted pulses of calibrated radiofrequency energy. If you’re worried about any discomfort from the heat of the machine, the frequency used penetrates the layer of fat and heats the cells more so than the skin. Additionally, your doctor will be able to adjust the device to a temperature you’re comfortable with.

Oftentimes, several handheld devices are used simultaneously so the treatment may only last 20 to 30 minutes depending on the treatment area size. TruSculpt 3D is a great option for those that are too small or too large for the machine used in the CoolSculpt procedure, as it does not require any skin to be pinched. It’s also great for people who have pockets of fat in difficult to reach places, like the underarms, neck, and shoulders.

A deeper look at CoolSculpting

As the name would suggest, CoolSculpting uses cold to freeze fat cells through the cryolipolysis process. Similar to the TruSculpt process, the cells then shrink, die, and your body eliminates them over a few months.

During the CoolSculpting treatment, your problem areas will be pulled up into a cup-like device. The skin held in that device will receive the cold treatment until the fat cells are frozen. If you’re worried about the pain of the treatment, the first 10 minutes or so is the only time that patients may feel discomfort. After that, the skin will feel numb and the discomfort goes away.

CoolSculpting sessions typically last between 40 to 60 minutes. Unlike TruSculpt, only one area can be treated at a time with CoolSculpting, so more than one treatment may be necessary. Additionally, CoolSculpting is a little more limited in who it’s best for. It’s best for those who have areas of excess fat that can be pinched (usually about an inch of fat is needed to be pulled into the machine). Where TruSculpt does not require a specific amount of fat needed for the treatment to be effective.

Whichever method of body contouring you’re interested in, it’s important to do your research and learn your options. The best way to figure out if a treatment is right for you is to come in for a consultation. One of our experienced physicians at ANU will find the perfect treatment plan for you to get rid of stubborn fat! This month, ANU is offering one area of TruSculpt for $999 and you’ll get the second area half off! Learn more here.
