As we age, our skin inevitably changes, but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for fine lines, wrinkles, and other imperfections. Today, both women and men are exploring new ways to reclaim a youthful glow, whether through a nourishing moisturizer, healthy lifestyle choices, or advanced skincare treatments at a medical spa. While moisturizing and healthy habits are essential, choosing the right professional treatment requires more careful consideration. At ANU Medical Spa in New Jersey, we offer two highly effective anti-aging treatments: microneedling and Laser Genesis. These treatments provide similar benefits, but their approaches differ significantly. So, how do you decide which is right for you?

Microneedling vs. Laser Genesis

Benefits of Both Treatments

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces pore size
  • Improves scarring
  • Improves sagging skin
  • Reduces discoloration and pigment issues
  • Boosts collagen production for firmer skin

Microneedling

How it Works:
Microneedling involves using a device with fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. At ANU Medical Spa, we use the Collagen P.I.N., an automated device that uses Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy (PCIT) to create controlled wounds in the skin. These wounds trigger the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased collagen and elastin production. Collagen P.I.N. offers a customized experience that allows for different needle penetration depths to treat areas with varying skin thicknesses, such as the face. This method may cause less damage to the skin’s outer layer than traditional microneedling, leading to faster healing times and results.

Benefits:
Microneedling can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars (including acne scars), minimize fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin tone.

Recovery:
There might be some redness and minor swelling immediately after the procedure, but downtime is generally minimal.

Price:
While microneedling for the full face is priced at $375, the cost for treating scars and stretch marks will be determined during your consultation. This personalized consultation allows us to assess your specific needs and develop a customized treatment plan to achieve your desired results.

Laser Genesis

How it Works:
Laser Genesis uses non-invasive laser technology to gently heat the layer of skin just below the surface. This heat stimulates collagen production and improves blood flow, which can help rejuvenate the skin.

Benefits:
Laser Genesis is often used to address issues like redness, fine lines, and large pores. It can also improve skin texture and tone. The procedure is known for being gentle and suitable for various skin types.

Recovery:
There’s essentially no downtime with Laser Genesis, though some clients may experience slight redness or a feeling of warmth similar to a mild sunburn.

Price:
Each Laser Genesis session costs $315 and is usually done in a series of 3-6 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart.

Deciding What’s Right for You

If you’re looking to proactively treat your skin, microneedling is a quick and low-risk way to see the results you want. If you have a more specific skin issue to address, a Laser Genesis treatment might be better for you.
