Is BOTOX Safe? Your Frequently Asked Questions, Answered

Aug 5, 2017 | Physician Services

is botox safe

Due to the many stigmas behind BOTOX, it is understandable that tentative patients are reluctant to receive treatment. ANU Medical Spa has answers to your most commonly asked questions surrounding BOTOX.

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX uses botulinum toxin, which is injected into the muscle being treated. The targeted muscle is contracted and paralyzed, stopping the wrinkling process.

How long does the procedure take?

The BOTOX procedure is often called a “lunchtime” procedure because it takes roughly 10 minutes.

Does the procedure hurt?

Many patients experience a slight pinching sensation. If you are concerned about pain, topical numbing creams can be provided by your clinician.

Does ANU offer any specials/discounts?

Look at our monthly specials to see if we are offering discounts on BOTOX! During the month of August, receive BOTOX for $11 a unit in lieu of the standard $15 a unit.

What is the patient recovery time?

One of the many benefits of BOTOX is the lack of recovery time. Patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

When will I see results?

Patients will see results in about four days.

How long will results last?

Results of BOTOX last anywhere from three to six months.

Can men get BOTOX?

Absolutely. While many believe BOTOX is only for women, men can seek many age-refining benefits from BOTOX, too.

Can I use BOTOX at home?

BOTOX should be administered by licensed, trained medical professionals. Do not seek assistance from anyone without this experience.

Can I use off-brand BOTOX?

There is no official generic form of BOTOX on the market. Please do not use any treatment that claims to be a generic or alternate version of BOTOX.

Is BOTOX FDA-approved? Is BOTOX safe?

BOTOX is the only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily treat moderate to severe lines in patients. It can be used from the neck up, including but not limited to neck lines, lips, jawline, and eyebrow crease. It is used in 78 countries. Due to stigmas surrounding the treatment, it is common to wonder if BOTOX is safe. As long as it is administered by trained professionals, you should not face any troubles.

What are common side effects?
